One of its more underrated features, however, was its support for Windows CE, a cut-down, simplified version of Microsoft’s flagship operating system. Around this same time period, Sega launched the (unfortunately) ill-fated Dreamcast to great fanfare - among other things, it had one of the greatest launch line-ups period, was the first console to natively support VGA output, and included a modem for internet functionality. As we explored last time (over a year ago sorry, 2020’s been a quite a time even without the pandemic looming heavily in the background and I will maybe explain some other time), GAINAX released an abundance of smaller, internally developed Evangelion-based games over the course of 1999.
